
Click on Edit Hard Words button and the editor will highlight all hard words. Readability formulas consider hard words as any word with three or more syllables.
You can change certain categories of words from hard to easy. They include: Proper Nouns; Inflected Words; Dale-Chall Words; Common Sight Words; and Repeat Words. Checkbox any category and the editor will underline such hard words with pink dots. For example, checkbox Proper Nouns if you know your readers understand the proper nouns in your text. Any hard proper nouns are now easy (familiar) to your readers.

To replace a hard word with an easier word, double-click the hard word. A small pop-up window will appear with a list of synonyms, sorted by syllable count. Click on the synonym to replace the hard word in the text.
You must be connected to the Internet to use this feature. The app connects to Datamuse's API to access its dictionary.
